My name is Valerie, wife to Gregg and mother to Aric, Arianna and our new addition, Aneira.  I love pansies (can you tell), dolphins and tropical fish.  I enjoy making graphics in my spare time (ha-ha!) as well as creating websites and desktop themes.  I love learning new things computer-related.  Right now I am learning to program in Visual Basic for Applications within the framework of Access.  I love to read.  My favorite authors are Jane Austin, J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis.

The things I listed above are my favorite things.  My passion is my relationship with Jesus Christ, my Savior.  He has given me a vision of what my ministry will be in the future, and it is starting a little bit at a time.  Right now I want to minister to hurting people, especially the "different" people that populate our great nation.  I guess this is because I am one of them.  Christ has brought me to a place in my life where He has showered me with blessings, and I just want to pass them along to others.  Right now I have a heart for special needs children and their families.

My husband since July 3, 1999 is Gregg Schaffer.  He is a true visionary.  He's my Knight in Shining Armor (actually chain mail, but who's quibbling).  He has been gifted with the spiritual gift of intercession as well as compassion and mercy.  He is an extremely gifted artist.  He paints (surrealism and medieval), he sculpts wood, illuminates and many other things.  He is currently building his business toward the wood sculptures and furniture.  He is a history buff, mainly the medieval and renaissance periods, but he is narrowing down to the crusade era.  We will be working on his website in the not too distant future.

Our son Aric Job is 14 years old.  My how time flies!  Although he is the son of my first husband, he is more like Gregg in many ways.  He loves science of all types:  rocks, astronomy, animals, electricity.  He has learning disabilities that make it difficult to process information on his age level, but he is certainly a very sharp boy with a talent for drawing.  I have been homeschooling him for the past year.

Our daughter Arianna Joy is about to turn 11 years old.  She is also the child of my first husband.  She is very outgoing and active.  She loves people.  She has a very compassionate and sharing nature and can seem much older than she is at times.  Other times she has problems with her mood.  She is like the little girl with the curl right in the middle of her forehead.  When she is good she is very, very good but when she is bad, she is horrid.  She has great emotional highs and great emotional lows.  There isn't much in between.  She has been in a special class for children with emotional disabilities.  She is a bright one, and when she applies herself she learns very well.  Arianna, even at such a young age, has the spiritual gift of compassion and perhaps healing in a small measure.  With maturity, she is going to be strong in the Lord.  We will start homeschooling her this coming school year.  She is very excited about it.

Our daughter Aneira Noel is 2-1/2 years old.  She is a blonde, blue-eyed little nymph.  She has, for the most part, a calm and sweet disposition.  She has her moments, though, as any toddler does.  She is at the stage of getting into everything.  I think she's going to be a people person as well.

My husband thinks I am remiss in not introducing our cat Galadriel.  She is a beautiful black and white cat with some weird little quirks.  She drinks water by scooping up water into her paw and licking it.  She likes to carry around little stuffed animals and socks and sometimes clothes.  She loves people and is very affectionate. She likes to sit in people's laps.  She's pretty cool.

Well, that is my family in a little more than a nutshell.  Go over to the photo album page to view family pictures as well as scenic pictures from Europe.
